Overview
BoxHop compares live parcel prices from brokers and carriers side by side and links straight to a bookable checkout. Its differentiator is a no-VAT guarantee as the product: every price shown is one a private individual can actually book — no business account or VAT registration required. It runs as a static-first Astro site in 24 languages with a single interactive rate-checker island.
Tech Stack
The Challenge
Private senders in the EU are quoted business rates or hit VAT walls the moment they try to book a cheap broker label. Comparison tables online rarely reflect what an individual can truly purchase, so people overpay or give up. There was no fast, honest comparator that only shows prices a non-business sender can complete at checkout.
Our Approach
We built a static-first Astro site with a single Preact rate-checker island and one serverless quotes endpoint. Live rates come from Packlink PRO and Nova Poshta, layered over verified static tariff tables for Austrian Post, DHL, Packeta, Colissimo, and national postal operators, with cached snapshots as a fallback, so a result is always shown instantly and live prices layer on top. Broker responses are edge-cached and the API is rate-limited. Full hreflang clusters, JSON-LD, and localized routing across 24 languages drive SEO.
The Result
BoxHop is live at boxhop.eu, comparing bookable, no-VAT parcel prices across brokers and carriers with deep links to checkout. It ships as a fast, statically generated multilingual site on Vercel with Web Analytics, launched as an SEO and traffic experiment with room to add affiliate tracking and accounts as demand proves out.
