Overview
Step Swap is a mobile-first marketplace for people whose left and right feet need different sizes — or who want to trade same-size shoes for new colors. Guests can search by size and preview anonymized matches before signing in; members chat in real time, pay a per-swap service fee via Stripe, and ship with prepaid labels on both legs. One React codebase powers the web app at stepswap.eu and a native Android app.
Tech Stack
The Challenge
People with differently sized feet — often due to medical conditions — routinely buy two pairs and discard half of each. Single-foot wearers face the same waste. There was no trusted, structured way to find a complementary SoleMate, agree on a swap, and handle cross-border shipping and payment safely between strangers.
Our Approach
We built a single React + Supabase + Capacitor codebase with Deno edge functions for checkout, label creation, and carrier webhooks. A server-side dispatcher routes each shipment to Packeta (SK/CZ/HU/RO/PL), Sendcloud (AT), or a Packlink consumer hand-off for German senders. The product ships in twelve languages with localized legal pages, a guest conversion funnel (size search → anonymized preview → sign-in), public delivery-fee pages, and SEO static mirrors for FAQ and community content.
The Result
Step Swap is live at stepswap.eu with the guest funnel, production payments, and multi-country shipping in daily use. The Android app is published on Google Play. Sentry crash reporting and consent-gated analytics keep quality and privacy in check on web and mobile.
